Two teenage girls, aged 15 and 16, were charged over a crank call made to an elderly woman on September 28. When making the call, the 16 year old pretended she was looking for her grandmother, stating that her mother had dropped her off and horrifyingly crying out that a man is “going to get her”.
Unfortunately, the victimized woman could not answer the phone in time, leaving just the answering message. After visiting the Tyler County Police Station, police officers were unable to trace the call. The message was so disturbing that police officers worked over time for several days with sleepless nights to find the girl in danger.
After several days, Police dispatch was advised by an anonymous tip off that the message was actually a crank call. The informant caller was traced to the cellular phone of a Tyler Consolidated High School student. After listening to the prank message, the girls’ parents agreed it was reasonable for the police to take the call seriously.

Lesley Douglas, head of the BBC’s prominent radio station Radio 2, resigned October 31 after a prank call was played on actor Andrew Sachs by two presenters. Offensive comments were dished out by the presenters on air. Andrew Sachs, aged 78, is a veteran actor who played the role of Manuel in Fawlty Towers.
The two presenters, Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross were the subject of almost 30,000 complaints. Ross received a 12 week unpaid suspension and Brand resigned from his show.
The call went like this: on Saturday October 18 the presenters broadcast pre-recorded messages which they left on Mr Sach’s voicemail stating that Brand had sex with his granddaughter, Georgina Baillie, who’s a burlesque performer and a member of Satanic Sluts.
Baillie’s upset over this crank did not stop her from trying to benefit from all the attention. Voluptua (Baillie’s stage name) and her group performed their explicit show at the Vice Rock Club that weekend. Sadly for her the audience of 30 were not that impressed with the show.
